Congratulations to our Winners!

We’d like to officially congratulate Roxi, Flynt and Georgie as our first, second, and third-place winners. Thanks to them, and everyone who entered, shared, or voted, we raised nearly $2,000 to help homeless dogs and cats find love of their own. Check back soon for their photos and amazing stories! Check out their winning mugs and incredible rescue stories below!

FIRST PLACE: Roxi

Winner First Place Roxy 56543ROXI’S STORY: Roxi is a five-year-old English Staffordshire Bull Terrier. A graduate of Barkeley K-9 University, Roxi currently attends Canine Circus School, where she’s mastering the fine art of canine clownery! She loves making people smile and laugh, and has plenty of opportunity to do so in her guise as a Canine Comfort Pet Therapy dog, a role she performs with her trusty “assistant “ (guardian) at her side, VHS volunteer Debbie Blumenthal. Roxi’s favorite tricks include pushing “YES,” “NO,” and “SORRY” buttons in response to questions asked of her, retrieving items and putting them away in her toy box, balancing a large juggling ball on the bridge of her nose…and more! When “off duty,” Roxi enjoys chasing her favorite ball and treating herself to a luxurious mud bath.

SECOND PLACE: Flynt

Winner Second Place Flynt 56714FLYNT’S STORY: Flynt was found wandering around the rodeo grounds in Dublin without tags, collar or microchip. When no one picked him up from animal control, Valley Humane Society brought Flynt into our adoption program. The Saturday he went up for adoption, so many people showed up wanting to take Flynt home that a raffle was held amongst the qualified adopters. The lucky winner (this is not her first rodeo) was his guardian, Mary Jo Romero, who writes, “He is the best friend I have ever had. What a personality! Everyone who meets him loves him. I was so happy to bring him home. Four years have gone by and he is the love of our life!”

THIRD PLACE: Georgie

Winner Third Place Georgie 56731GEORGIE’S STORY: Look closely! Georgie is a four-year-old shelter cat “who has become an awesome part of our lives,” writes guardian Cindy Olivieri. Georgie lives to go out in the backyard accompanied by her family, and (clearly) loves to climb trees.
