Whether you’re curious about cats or dedicated to dogs, we have the camp for you! Join VHS for a hands-on humane adventure teaching kindness, compassion, and responsible pet care. Each week-long day camp costs $250 per child, per session, and is infinitely valuable for the young pet-lover.
Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis and will be confirmed via email. Camp sessions are limited to 16 students each – Register early!

2013 Summer Camp
CC Essentials
Ages 9-11
June 17-21, 10 am – 2 pm
July 15-19, 10 am – 2 pm
It’s raining cats and dogs during CC Essentials, the original Critter Camp experience! Join VHS for a fun-filled week of learning, games, arts and crafts, and visits with animal experts. Explore responsible pet care, animal communication, and pet safety. Keep company with VHS cats to make their stay a little brighter and improve their chances of adoption. Take home a camp t-shirt and journal that you created! All campers should bring a bag lunch; snack provided.
All About Animals
Ages 7-8
June 24-28, 9 am – 12 noon
Discover the wonderful world of pets during All About Animals, a week-long camp full of stories, games, and crafts. Let VHS introduce you to the ABC’s of cats and dogs: Animal safety, Body language, and Caring for pets. Learn how to keep yourself safe around cats and dogs, how animals talk with their bodies, and how much love and care a pet requires. Snack provided.
Cat Caretaker
Ages 10-15
July 8-12, 2:30 – 5:30 pm
July 29-August 2, 2:30 – 5:30 pm
Are you cuckoo for cats? Step into the shoes of a VHS Cat Care volunteer for one week as a Kitty Caretaker. Earn volunteer service hours while feeding and cleaning in Kitty City. Learn cat socializing techniques and make enrichment projects to keep our feline friends happy and healthy. Meet an animal expert, and create your own adoption campaign to help your favorite feline find his or her forever home!
Devoted to Dogs
Ages 10-15
July 22-26, 1 – 4 pm
Unleash your curiosity in this special camp for doggie devotees. Cover canines from nose to tail, including the seven major breed groups, their individual characteristics, purpose, and differences in temperament. Explore dog health and grooming, and discover the importance of training and socialization. Meet a variety of Canine Comfort Pet Therapy dogs and learn how dogs help people. It’s a fur-filled week of trivia games, arts and crafts, and dogs, dogs, dogs! Snack provided.
