For pet-loving youth who want to make a difference but are below the minimum age requirements for our regular volunteer program, VHS offers Junior Volunteers. Students age 10-15 gain valuable volunteer experience working a Cat Care shift alongside our Humane Education team, feeding and cleaning in Kitty City so that our adoptable animals enjoy their stay. Full training is provided.

Junior Volunteers attend an orientation and training on the first day of four session dates running consecutive Fridays from 3:30 – 5:30 pm. Please contact our Humane Education department for more information.

Service Project & Award Workshop

For those seeking to complete a service project that will benefit the homeless and abandoned animals in our community, VHS offers the Service Project & Award Workshop.

Learn more about our non-profit, no-kill adoption center, the cats, dogs, and community members our programs serve, and how you can help. Our workshop will introduce you to our Humane Education Team, who will serve as your contacts throughout your project, and will ensure that the time and effort you invest will help the animals of VHS in a meaningful and lasting way.

The Service Project & Award Workshop is required for young people looking to complete:

  • Bronze, Silver, or Gold Awards
  • Eagle Scout Projects
  • School Service Projects (for Leadership, Civics, or other classes and clubs)
  • Service Hours (who can’t make the regular six month volunteer commitment)

Please contact our Humane Education department for more information about this workshop.
