DESCRIPTION:Bring Pet Food to the Fair\, Get In Free on June 24\nHere is a fun way to do some good and save on summer plans at the same time. On Wednesday\, June 24\, the Alameda County Fair is hosting a Pet Food Drive to benefit Valley Humane Society\, and every guest who brings a qualifying donation of unopened dog or cat food earns one free general admission until 5pm. \nWhat to Bring\nTo qualify for your free admission\, bring new\, unopened pet food in one of these amounts: \n\nCat food: 8 cans\, or 1 bag of dry food (6 lbs or more)\nDog food: 4 cans\, or 1 bag of dry food (6 lbs or more)\n\nWhat We Cannot Accept\nTo keep things running smoothly at the gate\, please leave these items at home: \n\nOpened bags of food\nLeashes\, collars\, and harnesses\nPet stairs\nPet car seats\nKennels and crates\nMedication\nLinens\, blankets\, and comforters\n\nWhere Your Donation Goes\nEvery item collected at the drive supports Valley Humane Society’s AniMeals Pet Food Pantry\, along with other animal shelters and rescues in our area. AniMeals provides pet food to families in our community who are facing financial hardship\, which helps keep beloved pets in the homes they already love instead of surrendering them during a rough stretch. \nValley Humane Society is an independent\, community-based nonprofit. We receive no government funding\, so community generosity like this is what makes programs like AniMeals possible. Your bag of kibble goes straight back into the Tri-Valley. \nMark Your Calendar\nRemember to bring your donation to the Alameda County Fair on Wednesday\, June 24 before 5pm to claim your free admission. SUMMARY:Foster Families Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Valley Humane Society rescues as many cats and dogs as our available kennel space allows. Ongoing adoptions to help to free up that space\, but foster families make a big difference. By opening up their hearts and homes\, foster families help expand the walls of our center to save more lives. In addition\, fostering: \n\nPrepares dogs and cats for adoption\nProvides a place for sick or injured animals to heal\nHelps young animals stay healthy\nCoaxes shy animals out of their shells\nOffers a short-term volunteer commitment\n\nValley Humane Society provides everything needed to foster an animal – veterinary care\, food\, dishes\, litter box\, litter\, travel carrier\, collar and leash\, etc. Foster families must bring their charges in for medical checkups and return them once they have reached adoptable status…and provide lots of love and attention\, of course! \nTo become a foster\, the first step is to attend a Foster Families Workshop (volunteers only need to attend 1 workshop). All members of a household responsible for care of the animal(s) must attend. Workshops are hosted in Valley Humane’s Community Room located at 3670 Nevada Street in Pleasanton.
