Critter Camp Leadership Program
Junior Volunteers
Join us for our new program, Animal Advocates! This virtual program allows animal-loving youth to have volunteer opportunities and create animal enrichment safely during the current COVID-19 pandemic. In this program, youth will explore the different ways they can make a difference to animals in our community. The program will consist of age-appropriate humane education lessons that explore topics such as animal welfare and pet responsibility. Students will learn through a blend of DIY service-learning projects that can be completed at home.
Animal Advocates Sessions run twice weekly on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 – 4:30 pm.
Now Enrolling Virtually for Winter 2020!
Session 1: November 10, 12, 17, 19
Session 2: December 1, 3, 8, 10

Community Service Projects
Service Project Consultation Workshop
For those seeking to complete a service project that will benefit the homeless and abandoned animals in our community, VHS offers the Service Project Consultation Workshop. (If you are under 12 years old, please join our weekly Kindness Club for service-learning opportunities.)
Learn more about our non-profit adoption center, the pets and community members our programs serve, and how you can help. Our Workshop will introduce you to our Humane Education team, who will serve as your contacts throughout your project, and will ensure that the time and effort you invest will help the animals of VHS in a meaningful and lasting way. Before we meet, please choose the projects that interest you from our approved list of current needs. At the Workshop, you will complete our Service Project Consultation form, to help you focus and refine your project idea. Our Service Project Reflection form must be turned in within two weeks of finishing your project for service credit.
The Service Project Consultation Workshop is required for scouts looking to complete:
- Bronze, Silver, or Gold Awards
- Eagle Scout Projects
Consultation Workshops are $15 per student, minimum of 4. Please contact our Humane Education department for more information.
Community Service Workshops
Come learn about Valley Humane Society and complete a series of service projects here during the Workshop. These projects might be creating toys for our dogs and cats, cleaning around the shelter, prepping for Humane Education classes, etc. (depending on the ages and skill levels of the group). Community Service Workshops are two hours long, and include an informational program about the humane society and a tour of the facility as well as team-building and service activities. We will sign off for your community service hours if needed.
Community Service Workshops are $15 per student, minimum of 6. Please contact our Humane Education department for more information.
