Valley Humane Celebrates Adoption Center Grand Reopening on May 30, 2025

PLEASANTON, California—May 12, 2025— Having recently refurbished its pet adoption center, located at 3670 Nevada Street in Pleasanton, Valley Humane Society invites the community to help celebrate with a grand reopening ceremony. An open house reception and ribbon cutting will be held Friday, May 30 from 5:30-7:30 pm to showcase the facility and recognize its impact on the lives of pets and people in the Tri-Valley.

Valley Humane has worked to save the lives of companion animals since 1987, strengthening the human-animal bond through compassionate care and active community engagement. Originally built in 2011, the organization’s adoption center has now been refreshed to create an even more welcoming space that fosters connections between people and animals.

Included in the refurbishment is new signage dedicating the adoption center to Dr. Sandy St. Dennis, who volunteered her veterinary expertise for 20 years. “Dr. St. Dennis was a game changer for Valley Humane,” says Melanie Sadek, Valley Humane’s President and CEO. “Her unwavering support and dedication elevated our ability to serve both animals and the community. Very few animal welfare organizations are fortunate enough to have access to such exceptional volunteer veterinary care—we wouldn’t be where we are today without her.”

People often feel nervous about visiting animal shelters, but Valley Humane’s adoption center is filled with love, compassion, and optimism. With its fresh coat of paint both inside and out, its future as a community resource is looking just as bright as that of the cats and dogs awaiting families inside. “We encourage you to come experience it for yourself,” says Sadek.

The community is invited to come explore Valley Humane’s fresh new look and meet adoptable cats and dogs. Reception guests will enjoy a short program beginning at 6 pm, followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 6:15 pm to officially re-open the beautifully refurbished shelter. Light refreshments will be served.
