| Spend an Evening at Villa del Sole, meandering through the plush grounds, where surprises await beyond each bend in the path. Discover smooth jazz, sumptuous buffets and fine wines among its hidden treasures. Villa del Sole is nestled high on a hill in what was once Phoebe Apperson Hearst’s beloved Hacienda De Verona estate. Hosts and current homeowners Iraj Zandi and Mitra Ara open their privately owned estate’s beautiful gardens in a benefit for Valley Humane Society on Saturday, September 20, 2008 from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Become one of the few to experience what lies behind the gates of this historic Pleasanton home.
Purchase Admission at Valley Humane Society or buy on-line by clicking here. Individual admission is $250. Event sponsorships are also available. Minimum-level sponsorships include 2 tickets to An Evening at Villa del Sole, a docent-led tour of the gardens for you and your guest, and special recognition as a Valley Humane Society supporter. To sign-up as an event sponsor, visit our Forms & Information page to print out our 2008 Event Sponsorship package and form.

AniMeals
Providing Free, Nutritious Food To the Pets of Homebound Seniors, Disabled and Low-Income Families
Our frist step was to establish partnerships with local organizations that were already serving seniors and low-income citizens. A local Meals-on-Wheels driver, who is also a Valley Humane Society Volunteer, has been delivering nutritious dog food, cookies and toys to five needy dogs on her route. Sampson, Brutus, Cookie, Rita and Wiggles have already received over 375 pounds of food since December. (Sampson and Brutus are very big dogs!)
We are also working with Open Heart Kitchen and the Tri-Valley Haven, both non-profit meal services that provide nutritious food to those in need. A Valley Humane Society volunteer (who also helps out at Open Heart Kitchen) has begun distributing AniMeals applications translated into both English and Spanish. Several clients have already signed on to receive pet food when they arrive to get their own meals at Open Heart Kitchen.
Amador High School students were instrumental in securing a PETCO grant that provides food and supplies for the AniMeals program. And students are welcome to help out to fulfill their community service requirement.
AniMeals is designed to be proactive by giving loving, responsible pet owners the resources necessary to keep their pets safe, healthy and happy in their own homes. Even birds and fish can be helped through AniMeals!
We appreciate your continued support!
