Petty and Holland

May 26, 2024

Petty and Holland came to Valley Humane Society as part of the “Toms” litter last September, an all male group of 6 puppies named after iconic Toms. After spending a few weeks in foster care and receiving their neuters at the Phil Scholz Veterinary Surgery Center, they found a home together with mom Jill.

Jill and her family renamed them Draymond and Iggy after their favorite Warrior defensemen, Draymond Green and Andre “Iggy” Iguodala. She recently emailed us to let us know how their first six months in the family had been.

“Draymond and Iggy are the only pets living with my husband and me, but they love to play with other dogs who come over for playdates. They also love going to Camp Bow Wow to play with other dogs. When it’s just us at home, the boys love playing fetch in the backyard. And at the end of the day, they love to snuggle up with us on the couch. They are great playmates for each other, and often nap all wrapped up together on the kitchen floor while I work at the kitchen table. They are big fans of ropes and Kong’s, but their favorite toys are balls of any kind. They play with tennis balls, basketballs, and everything in between. Both pups have a great sense of humor. They love to do silly things to get our attention. Draymond puts his paw on my leg to get my attention, and Iggy puts his head in my lap. Draymond brings balls up and drops them at my feet to play fetch and is good about bringing the ball back. But Iggy likes to tease me by pretending he’s going to bring the ball back, then running off at the last minute in hopes I’ll chase him around the yard (which I do!). During the day, they sleep on comfy rugs on the floor next to where I’m working. But when we’re away or at night, each pup has their own crate in the living room to sleep in. They usually let us know when it’s bedtime – when we’re watching TV at night, they will lay down in their crates around 8 or 8:30, and look at us like, “Can you please move it upstairs? We’re tired and ready for bed.””

Sounds like you both found a great team, Draymond and Iggy!
