Valley Humane’s Canine Comfort Teams Join AHS’s New Visitation Program

Alameda Health System (AHS) has launched a new Canine Visitation Program to support the emotional well-being of patients and staff—and Valley Humane Society is proud to partner in this effort by providing certified Canine Comfort Pet-Assisted Therapy dogs. The program, now active at San Leandro Hospital and Alameda Hospital, brings trained therapy dogs into care environments to reduce stress, ease anxiety, and create meaningful moments of connection.

“Our Canine Comfort teams are honored to be part of this initiative,” said Shoshannah Reed, volunteer programs manager at Valley Humane Society. “The companionship these dogs provide can truly make a difference in a patient’s recovery and a staff member’s day.” AHS plans to expand the program to additional facilities in the near future.
