Animal Adoptions Still Available by Appointment at Valley Humane Society

By: Jeremy Walsh/Pleasanton Weekly

Tri-Valley nonprofit Valley Humane Society continues working to serve local animals in need despite changing operational conditions caused by the novel coronavirus crisis — and a potentially growing demand, not only from COVID-19 fallout but the regular kitten season as well.

“Nonprofits are often working in the shadows during challenging times,” Valley Humane executive director Melanie Sadek said in a statement. “Valley Humane Society is focused on modifying our programs and services to ensure human health is protected, while maintaining the greatest positive impact for those animals and people we serve.”

Valley Humane’s facility on Nevada Street in Pleasanton remains closed to the public, but the organization is still offering adoptions by appointment for dogs and cats in its charge.

Pets like Pamplemousse, a peppy pooch who has retained her active lifestyle (she loves to play fetch) despite having had a leg fracture that was left untreated and healed on its own before she arrived at a public shelter and then into Valley Humane care.

Pre-approved adopters can learn more about Pamplemousse or any other pets available at Valley Humane Society by emailing info@valleyhumane.org.
