Adoptable Pet of the Week: Moose, A Terrific Terrier Mix Dog

May 26, 2025

Meet Adoptable Dog of the Week: Moose

Straight from the (very tiny) tundra, it’s Moose—a 12.3-pound terrier mix with the heart of a wilderness explorer and the manners of a perfect expedition teammate. While he may be more than 100 times smaller than a real moose, this pint-sized pioneer is great with dogs and kids, loves a cozy den, and is always up for a gentle stroll through the forest. Quiet, crate-trained, and full of frontier charm, Moose is ready to leave the wild behind for a warm, loving home.

Moose has a heart murmur. A cardiac ultrasound was performed and he was diagnosed with a suspected (visibly inapparent) ventricular septal defect. This is a small, non visible hole between two chambers of the heart. There is no way of knowing if this pet will develop heart disease in the future. At this time, there is no sign of heart disease and no medication or treatment is necessary. It is recommended to monitor the murmur and perform a follow up ultrasound if changes occur.
