Waffle

May 5, 2024

Waffle came to Valley Humane as the mama of the Fries litter (Curly, Shoestring, and Wedge) last October. Her kittens were only 3 days old, so after raising and weaning them, she was ready for her own spay surgery in late December. Her new family adopted her a few weeks later, and took her home to Canada! They wrote to us recently about how in love with Waffle they are!

Heather and John, her new parents, renamed her to Mitzi, and let us know how it’s been going.

“It’s not hyperbolic to say that it’s hard to imagine our lives without her even though she’s only been home about three months, and just how much joy she’s brought to our lives. She’s blossoming each and every day, and her antics never disappoint. Mitzi’s discovering how much she loves to snuggle, how much fun it is to stalk your canine sister from the top of the cat tree, or just how far you can slide across the floor when you dive into your tunnel at a full sprint! We’ve loved getting to know her, discovering her quirks and talents, and getting to know each bit of colour in her beautiful calico pattern. I often work digitally as a therapist and Mitzi loves to “go to work” with me in my home office, wandering in front of the camera, playing with the end of my pen while I write, or taking her favourite napping spot on the back of the couch where she purrs and snores all at once. There have been moments as I watch Mitzi and our dog, Josie, chase each other around the house where I just pause (or, “paws”, am I right?!) to think how lucky we are to love and be loved by these animals. I’m so sincerely grateful to you, Valley Humane Society, and all of you staff and volunteers for the work you all do. You all made this Canadian family very happy, and helped us find the piece we didn’t even know was missing.”

What a beautiful Success Story, Mitzi, Heather, John, and Josie! Thank you for sharing with us.
