Love may be blind, but Max is only partially blind, which doesn’t stop him from seeing straight into your heart! This sweetheart is a staff favorite who’s ready to be your ultimate lap cat, showering you with cuddles and affection. He’s lived with other cats before but is equally happy as your one-and-only.
Max is an incredibly gregarious and affectionate cat; he is quite the staff and volunteer favorite at Valley Humane. Max is ready to be your lap cat and will reward you with affection. He has previous lived with another cat but also seems quite happy as a solo pet (more attention for him!). Max is a friendly cat and a very good pet; he even let his previous owner bathe him! He is very cuddly and would love to be your lap cat.
This cat has a condition in both eyes called “symblepharon,” it is more severe in the left eye compared to the right. It is likely that this cat previously had an infection in the eyes resulting in inflammation of the corneas (the clear part of the eye.). In an attempt to heal this infection and likely corneal ulcers, some of the surrounding tissues of the eye called conjunctiva attached to the cornea and became permanently healed there. While the function of the eye is normal, this tissue now permanently covers portions of the cornea. This limits vision the same way a curtain covering a window prevents you from seeing outside properly. This cat also has a condition called anterior synechia of the iris in the right eye. A portion of the iris (the colored portion of the eye) has become permanently stuck to the back of the cornea. The condition that affected the iris also caused some scarring of the cornea, creating a white patch on the surface of the eye. Fortunately, this cat’s partial loss of vision is not anticipated to negatively impact his quality of life and his eyes are currently comfortable. The adopting family may wish to purse consultation with a veterinary ophthalmologist at their expense to see if there is a surgical option to improve vision although success rates may be limited.
